A shame to hear it's lost, hopefully it's still somewhere, collecting dust awaiting to be discovered.

By the way, I liked your post about Filipino horror films on DVD a lot. It's actually now part of my "to-see" list.

Thanks for the great info!J Luis Riverahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00145857465646419255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12690266.post-11977899251440199632007-12-05T16:39:00.000-05:002007-12-05T16:39:00.000-05:00Yeah.The earliest existing film I know is actually...Yeah.

The earliest existing film I know is actually available is Eduardo de Castro's Zamboanga, 1937, which is four years after George Musser's Ang Aswang (1933). Unless they've found an earlier film, then Ang Aswang is lost, and you probably need to find someone, oh, maybe seventy years old or older who has actually seen the film.

As for Satanas, IMDb is known for huge factual errors--I've corrected them once before for stating that Mike de Leon is married (?!)--but this time they're most likely correct. Actually, Jose Nepomuceno's Satanas was made in 1933, and stars Carlos Padilla, whose debut was in 1931. So it's unlikely that the film was made in 1925.Noel Verahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05904212081036547668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12690266.post-16686868573695329422007-12-05T00:55:00.000-05:002007-12-05T00:55:00.000-05:00Hello Mr. Vera, I been reading your blog for awhil...Hello Mr. Vera, I been reading your blog for awhile and I find it extremely helpful. I arrived here intrigued by your book on Filipino cinema (which I'm planning to get soon), as I'm interested in finding a copy of the 1933's classic, "Ang Aswang". Have you seen it?

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I'm interested in that film a lot. By the way, IMDB lists a Filipino film, "Satanas" as a 1932 movie, but I've read sources stating that it is infact a 1925 silent, which one is right?

Again, sorry for the off topic post. Hope you are Ok.

Cheers!J Luis Riverahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00145857465646419255noreply@blogger.com
