I recall what Scorsese said about Cronenberg. Actually, his mis en scene here isn't as strong as in, say, Funny Games or Cache or Code Inconnu, I think; this really lived or died on the performance.Noel Verahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05904212081036547668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12690266.post-25756553816571308852009-06-13T12:25:45.144-04:002009-06-13T12:25:45.144-04:00Okay! so you were there also, i hope i got a glimp...Okay! so you were there also, i hope i got a glimpse of you. I didn't watched L'esquive (2003), the 530 PM film in between the two because it's just a waste of time.

I watched Truffaut's The 400 Blows with the hope of watching it in true celluloid, perhaps maybe the original 1959 stock but i think it costs too much for a free viewing from the French Embassy. And yes, they projected the DVD version which i think is pixelized enough for the big screen. Sad, but i enjoyed it though i watched it several times in my DVD player. It's still a gem in the big screen. I looked around Shang after that.

But hell, when i came back at 6 o'clock for the ticket for Haneke's La Pianiste it was terribly long! We were not even in the upper half of the long, winding line.

Why is it that La Pianiste created such as fuss for the mass public? It's cold, bleak and austere, Humpert is "frigid bitch saint of a piano teacher", and Haneke isn't much concern with innovations on frame compositions. He creates this awkwardness in framing that is so disconcerting and at the same time distracting and absurd for example, notice how he frames the 2nd fellatio scene on some storage room at Walter's (Magimel) hockey place. Magimel's unexposed butt is blocked by an unfocused metal, part of the storage structure, at the center. I don't know Haneke's aesthetics, but i find the angle absolutely annoying. I had a bad headache after watching the film.Adrian Mendizabalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02627346620368062069noreply@blogger.com
